New Directory

You will probably want a little help setting up your first directory. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Your Plus Three account manager is here to help.

To create a new directory, click on New Directory in the left-hand navigation. Or, go to Find Directory and click the Add Directory button.

On the New Directory screen, you will find two fields. They are:

Name

The name of your directory. This name does not appear on your website but it helps if you use a name that clearly conveys what the directory contains. For example, if you are building a directory of newspapers, call it "Newspapers" instead of "Media Data from Tom."

Field Count

How many different pieces of information do you need to store about each directory listing? For example, if you are building a staff directory and you want to store each staff member's first and last name and job title, you would want to choose 3 from the dropdown menu.

After you choose a number from the Field Count pulldown, you will see new input fields appear under the Fields heading. Go through each row and confirm that these four things are set the way you would like:

Order

This is the order in which the directory fields will appear when you are viewing an individual directory listing. The easiest thing to do is to set up the directory with the fields in the order you would like to see them displayed — but if you ever need to change the order, you can move fields up or down by adjusting the Order pulldowns and clicking the Reorder button.

Tip: It is a good idea to put required fields at or near the top.

Field

Choose the directory fields you would like in your directory from the dropdown menu.

If you are not seeing any options in the Field dropdown, you will need to first go add directory fields and then come back to finish setting up your directory.

Type

This lets you know what type of data the field you chose is. You can not edit the field's type.

Required

Check this box if the field is required for all listings in the directory.
