Preferences
The Preferences screen is where you can set certain system preferences for items in ARCOS. Your preferences are specific to you and only you can set your preferences.
You may set:
- Search Results per Page
-
The number selected indicates how many items will be displayed on your screen when you conduct a search or when you access a page that displays a list of items. From the drop-down menu you can select 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 100 items.
- Autocomplete Searches?
-
When you are searching for anything in ARCOS—a story, a member, etc.—autocomplete will pay attention to the search term you're typing in and will suggest words as you type. Some people find this really helpful. Some people find it really irritating. Try it both ways and see which you prefer.
- Timeout For Messages
-
The number specifies how many seconds information messages will remain on screen. If you would like to have these messages remain on screen until you click to close them, choose "Never."
- Use Syntax Highlighting?
-
This preference lets you specify whether you would prefer a plain text view when editing templates and text-based media files, or if you would prefer a color-coded view that can make it easier to skim content.
- Change Account Password
-
To change your ARCOS password, enter your new password in the text field labeled 'new password'. Enter your new password again in the text field labeled 'repeat'. Click on Update Preferences. The next time you login, you will have to use your new password. For security reasons, your password must be at least 6 characters, and should include at least one letter, at least one number, and at least one special character such as *, !, $, or #.
